Summary

Amanda has maintained a full-time independent dispute resolution practice since 1991, was accredited as a commercial mediator in 1996 and was the awarded the first mediation Fellowship by the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators in 2008. She is probably the first career mediator to practise in the UK and she has a significant portfolio of mediated disputes across a range of industry sectors and legal contexts.

 

Her personal style is to focus on generating good decisions and she has an enviable track record as a guide and catalyst for reaching agreement in both litigated and non-litigated cases.

 

She has notable experience working with entrepreneurs and sophisticated commercial parties and is highly regarded for her international practice, knowledge and sensitivity to differences in business practices around the world.

 

Over the last 12 months, Amanda has mediated disputes between parties from Central Africa, East Africa , North Africa, Middle East, India, Brazil, USA.

 

Background: Before developing her mediation practice, Amanda spent 14 years in business negotiating contracts and building collaboration and partnership agreements internationally.  As a metals trader (physical and LME) she was involved in large and complex shipping and transport contracts and currency hedging/financial instruments. She negotiated major contracts on every continent and her mediation career has followed a similar path.

 

As a Marketing Director of a clothing leather tannery, she built a high profile customer base from a failing market presence by developing stories for the customers and products to support those stories. 

 

She will find the parties' motivation to settle, identify their commercial needs and interests and she balances those with the legal merits. She has an enviable track record as a guide and catalyst for reaching agreement between even the most ‘individual’ of individuals.

 

Clients frequently remark on her commercial flair, creative input and her persistence in finding a resolution with a persuasive yet non-confrontational style. “If there is a deal to be done, she will help you find it. “
