"I never get any interviews!" said a client one day.

Opening a door and walking through usually leads somewhere, even if only another room and more doors, whereas simply contemplating how wonderful it will be on the other side of a closed door just gives time for the person on the other side to lock it before you try to open it.

A recruiter friend of mine says that when they post a job on their web site, on LinkedIn or on a third party job database they often close it down well before the closing date, sometimes after only a couple of days, once they have enough suitable applicants.

You may be the perfect match but if you are taking 3 or 4 days to put together the perfect application, the door you are trying to open may well have been locked already from the other side.

Not very ethical I would agree: they shouldn't say the door is open for 10 days and then lock it after 2!

Ethical or not it simply reinforces my message to apply within the first 2 days.
