The importance of your personal security is down to you.  The acronym A.R.M.E.D. is a very easy and succinct tool that enables a way of sequencing your personal security encounter thought process.

A – Awareness – of our surroundings.

R – Recognition – of a perceived threat.

M – Motivation – of self or others to conduct or have an encounter.

E – Evasion – early identification enables evasion.

D – Defence – As a last resort used hard, fast and with lots of aggression.

Risk Taking and Character play an important part in how you read situations, these will all play into an attack if the situation is misunderstood or mistaken anything can be placed out of context.

A question to ask yourself is what type of character am I? What makes me tick, from a psychological and personal trait perspective?
