There is slowly becoming more choice in the esate agency market which can only be a positive thing for people who are looking to sell their property.
With traditional estate agents charging between 1.5pc and 2pc of the ultimate sale price, you could easily fork out £10,000 in fees when selling a £500,000 property, with other costs such as conveyancing fees to pay on top. Nationwide the housing market is picking up again, after several years' of stagnation. So if you do manage to sell your home quickly you will find you have paid a huge fee, for potentially very little work.
There are now a growing number of alternative estate agents that charge a fraction of the cost and in many cases offer a much better service with average customer satisfaction ratings way above that of the traditional high street agents. These are often called 'online estate agents' but many do offer the full estate agency service with the exception of a high-street shop. As a result of the lower over heads that effectively add very little if any value to the client, these agents are able to pass on the thouands of pounds of savings and therefore charge lower fees.
