Things to do for Self Care

Throughout the past few years, self-care has started to become much more popular. From encouraging people to meditate more often to focusing much more on mental health and well-being, there has been an encouraging shift from people not taking good enough care of themselves to pushing for people to care about their health a lot more. This is something I really love to see! Not only is physical health important, but mental health is probably more so. Last week, we talked about misconceptions regarding mental health, and now it’s time to look at how we can change this. Also, if you aren’t sure what self-care is, take a look here.

What Kind of Activities Can I Do?

If you are like many people, you may try to spend more time at the gym to focus on your health or maybe walking the dog. But, you don't have any more ideas as to what to do for self-care when you're not working out or taking your dog out to the park. There are many things you can do that make your day just a tad better, for example, reading, painting, knitting or even having a nice relaxing half hour in the bath with some nice bubbles, candles and a bit of easy listening in the background, and they all count as self-care. Another example, you can put a facemask on every Saturday morning just to celebrate the beginning of the weekend. on Sunday night to relax one last time before the long week ahead starts. By the way, if you feel extremely stressed before starting work again, check out this page to think about what it could be.

Exercise

First, it's important that you understand how important your physical health and well-being are. If you want to stay healthy and happy for the rest of your life, you need to make sure that you get your body in tip-top shape each and every day. One of the best ways to accomplish this is through exercise, but this doesn't mean that you should rush it or that you have to overdo it. Instead, start out slow and work your way up as your body becomes stronger. Make sure that you get at least 30 minutes of moderate activity each day, and you'll find that you'll be able to stick to a regular exercise routine for the rest of your life. Even just walking for half an hour is a good place to start or gentle yoga you can find free videos on youtube.

Make a List of the Things You Love… And Do Them!

As winter comes around, many of us want to be cozy and want to enjoy our homes more than ever. Sometimes, we tend to love things that are as simple as lighting a candle or lighting up fairy lights. Having your favourite smell in your room or listening to relaxing  music may also do the trick. The point is that you should be focusing on doing things that you love doing. Self-care is nothing extremely complicated, it’s really all about showing your mind and body that you care about it and showing it by taking actions that you know you love. Remember you're important too!!

So, make a list of all the things you love, and you’re good to go!
