Training - it's not all doom and gloom...
A while ago I wrote an article on this site about the "good sort of training need". How about the good reasons for training? Here are 3, that might well apply to you more than "help - I've got a problem!"
- Training is an investment of time, it demonstrates that you value the people attending the training.
- Training allows people to review their way of working and the way customers behave and make their own changes to feel more in control of their work.
- Training isn't done in secret, your people talk about it, to each other and to people outside the business: it tells observers, customers and even your rivals that you're proactive and improving and getting on.
Of course, all of these only apply with training that fits your needs and the needs of the people attending. Training that starts from where people are at now and doesn't say "shush and listen - A is for Apple..." Training that engages people, motivates them and makes them want to talk glowingly about it afterwards.
There are good reasons for getting in some training. With the the right sort of trainer.
