Business as Usual During Lockdown?
Many business owners operating in the North West of England have been hit hard with the news of Tier 2 and Tier 3 measures in recent weeks.
Although there may be an initial reaction of fear and uncertainty, there should also be an opportunity to innovate.
Some recent examples I have discussed with business owners recently include:
Gym owners
One gym owner has been offering ongoing diet and training support via WhatsApp groups, Facebook pages and 1:1 calls. He charged a premium for the service and this has led to an increased profit due to not needing to repair machines at the gym as often.
Pubs
One publican I consulted with has now launched a "beer 2 u" service, operating throughout the night delivering liquid relief to those who may be stuck at home or shielding. A different publican has also been offering "virtual events" delivered via online platforms to keep the local pub community together.
Beauty salons
A few of the beauty salons near to me have offered online tutorials 1:1 to their customers at a fee of around £10 per hour. Although this does not compare to the cost of nails or eyelashes, it also reduces the need to buy materials.
Business that stays open
Take away food places, bakeries, essential services such as supermarkets and grocery stores. From manufacturers to retailers to technical services, Better Safety has been supporting businesses throughout COVID 19 in England and Wales.
