An article produced by Dental Protection has highlighted some of the concerns we have highlighted in recent weeks where dentists are sending staff on a 1-day face-fit training course to fit RPE on staff.
A 1-day course does NOT mean a person is competent to perform a critical safety testing role. This is only the first step of the process.
The article goes on to say that dentists should check they are insured to provide this service within their own practice and;
If a dentist is offering this service to other practices, they should not charge for this.
If I were to watch a thousand hours of dental education it would not make me a competent dental assistant, nevermind a dentist.
