Summary
I previously trained and qualified with Smailes Goldie before relocating to London for a few years.
Whilst in London, I worked in the tax advisory team of Saffery Champness, a top 20 UK national firm of tax advisors and accountants. Whilst with Saffery Champness I focused on capital taxes, the UK taxation of international clients and their associated offshore structures (including trusts), employee shares schemes and also investor tax reliefs for start-up companies raising private equity (under the (Seed) Enterprise Investment Schemes).
I then moved to the London headquarters of BDO LLP to join their international private wealth team. BDO LLP are the fifth biggest international firm of tax advisors and accountants and whilst there, I focused purely on capital taxes and the UK taxation of international clients and their associated offshore structures (including trusts).
In my new role with Smailes Goldie, I'll be focusing on UK capital taxes; trusts; landed estates; and the UK taxation of international clients.
I'm a member of the Chartered Institute of Taxation and Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners (‘STEP’). I also hold the STEP advanced certificate for the UK taxation of international clients.
